![]() He was paying slightly more, but he had a 500/500 plan and the speeds never fluctuated on his hardwired devices. After a month, he called up spectrum and cancelled and switched back to Frontier FiOS, like he had at his previous place. After a few weeks he noticed in the evening his speeds were kind of slow, so he ran speed tests, and he was fluctuating between 50mbps and a little over 100mpbs. My concern is only the 5 upload speed on both packages. After the install he tested his speeds, and was getting what was advertised 400/400, this was at midday, he works from home. Either option is good for gaming in the download speed department but if you buy a lot of digital games then 250 would be a lot better. Friend of mine moved to a new house and ordered Spectrum, because they had a 400/400 plan for $40/mo. Perfect example, in my area we have Spectrum and Frontier FiOS. In this range, you can engage in common online activities such as uploading videos, downloading music, web browsing, HD streaming, and online gaming. Unlike internet using cable which has a lot of fluctuation, depending on the amount of traffic in your area, fiber doesn't get affected by this. The download speed should be at or above 25 Mbps while the upload speed should not be less than 3 Mbps. The advantage of fiber, is not just the high speeds, but the consistency of those speeds.
